Our final “alumna” contributor group is full of amazing women with amazing stories. We hope you continue to enjoy their writing as much as we at MMB do!
Jeanie is a psychologist, transplanted to Cordova fresh out of graduate school. She and her husband, Matt, had no intent on making Memphis “home” – but ten years later, they’re still here. They have three saucy gingers, along with three “fur babies”. Between homeschooling and chairing graduate Psychology departments online, life is never boring. It’s no surprise that Jeanie fancies coffee, but she also loves bargain shopping and embarrassing her children with her questionable singing/dancing skills. She’s had more #PinterestFails that she can count and has perfected the art of giving a good pep talk (watch out, puberty!). Motherhood has slowly transformed her into the “uncool” Mom she thought she’d never be, yet she’s never felt cooler or more content with her life.
Lorrin is a born and raised Memphian who juggles family life, 3 kids, a full time IT job, and an in-home sewing and monogramming business. She graduated from the University of Memphis in August of 2001 with a BBA in Management Information Systems. After several years in the corporate world, she made a move into the educational sector and is currently the Data Systems Administrator/Registrar for a local K2-12 private school. She married her husband David in 1999 and they have two sons, Reece (September 2007), Dylan (November 2009) and a sweet little girl Emma Grace (February 2014). In her free time she enjoys walking Emma, cheering her boys on from the stands, sewing, cooking (something other than chicken nuggets), and consignment sales. When she gets the remote to herself (which is never) you will find her watching Curse of Oak Island, Fixer Upper (yes! she JUST started watching it) and Good Bones on a loop.
Courtney is a small-town Texas gal who moved to Memphis in 2007 to work at the University of Memphis…oh and for this guy who would become her husband almost one year to the day later. Fast forward 9 years and she loves the Memphis life, specifically East Memphis and Midtown, and has three amazing children who were all December babies! Doug (2009) is the loving watchman for his two younger sisters, Adlee (2013) the free spirit and Nora (2014) the easy going baby. When she isn’t working, pretending she’s a cool Pinterest mom, going to school parties, cleaning house or momming in general. Courtney loves to read fiction and self-help books, follow college football, rearrange furniture, DIY house projects for their 1938 home, laugh with her girlfriends, and spend time with that sweet guy who brought her to Memphis all those years ago for this crazy, amazing life.
Lauren is a true blue 901er. She lives in Midtown where she pins way too many projects for her husband and their 100 year old house, while chasing after her 4 year old boy, and hourly reprimanding her 3 dogs for barking at the wind chime. She loves to travel, being a fairy godmother, black coffee, pies, Bravo & MTV reality shows (judge away), Pancho’s YELLOW cheese dip, the entire month of May in Memphis, Broad Avenue, black & white movies, and green chile on everything thanks to her stint in New Mexico. She is obsessed with Apple Music and Moscow mules/red wine depending on the day.
