Meet Blue Iris Boutique

Breeze Blankenship has lived in the Midsouth her entire life. After earning a marketing degree from Mississippi State University, she found herself moving back to the Memphis. Deciding to stay, she later met and married the love of her life. Upon having their first child, Breeze decided to give up her corporate job and become a stay-at-home Mommy. Now mom to three beautiful kiddos, ages 3, 6 and 9, she has never regretted her decision to put her career on hold. Fast forward to 2016, Breeze was diagnosed with breast cancer. Juggling every day family tasks alongside surgery, chemo, and radiation, she showed what a fighter she is! Now in remission, Breeze knew it was the perfect time to incorporate a new adventure into her life. Meet Blue Iris Boutique!

Situated in a quaint, remodeled house, Blue Iris Boutique made its debut this past September. The boutique is located on Mynders Avenue, near the University of Memphis. Recently revitalized, the Highland Strip is one of the newest and hottest areas in Memphis.  Breeze saw the opportunity to grab up real estate and took it! Anyone familiar to that area of town knows that parking can sometimes be annoying and difficult. But Blue Iris Boutique is easily accessible and offers off road parking in their own private lot. Timing it perfectly with the returning college students and beginning of the Fall 2017 semester, the boutique was a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

Typically open daily from 10am-6pm, the boutique specializes in unique clothing options you won’t find at a big box department store. Upon entering, you’ll experience a relaxing atmosphere and clever displays of eye-appealing merchandise. Breeze has the shop flowing from room to room, drawing your attention to contemporary clothing styles mingled with some classic pieces. Side tables hold jaunty caps, winter scarves, and colorful, soft hats. The check out desk displays lovely earrings, handmade jewelry, and other colorful accessories. There is also an entire display dedicated to all things Memphis and “901” merchandise. Although the shop is located in a college setting, it’s not just for young college students. The stock inside the store is perfect for the working woman needing to spruce up her professional attire, or perfect for what Breeze used to be: the SAHM! There are offerings of jeans, comfy t-shirts, and even over-sized large sweaters (with pockets!), perfect to throw on over leggings.

While the shop’s offerings look high end, they are extremely affordable! T-shirts are around the $20 mark, while sweaters and pants on average are $25-45. Accessories are mostly under $15, making them the perfect pick-me-up on a dreary winter day or a one-of-a kind birthday/teacher gift.

While Breeze says opening the boutique has been a challenge, it’s also been a lot of fun! She knew this area is experiencing much growth and development and wanted to be a part of it. (Her brother also invested in the area and owns 901 Scoops.)
